Housing advocates offer look at future with development that ‘lifts up the whole neighborhood’

Officials offered a “sneak peek” Wednesday at a new $27.4 million lakefront apartment development on Mercy Drive — the start of a long-planned revitalization effort for the neighborhood and a cornerstone of Orlando’s ambitious affordable-housing strategy.

“This is beautiful,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, who toured the three-story buildings currently under construction and walked through what will be a central courtyard and green space. “A project like this lifts up the whole neighborhood, not just the 166 units here.”
