Ability Housing’s mission is to build communities where everyone has a home.
We do this by developing and operating quality, affordable multifamily housing, paired with supportive services that create pathways to stability and self-sufficiency for individuals and families with low incomes — including those experiencing or at risk of homelessness and adults with disabilities.

Our History
Ability Housing opened its doors in 1992 as a group home for six adults with developmental disabilities. In just a few years, the nonprofit saw a tremendous need for quality affordable housing and began to expand its efforts, focusing on the needs of adults with disabilities. In 2006, at the request of the Northeast Florida Homeless Coalition, Ability Housing began developing multifamily rental housing, serving low-income households, adults with a disability, and those exiting homelessness. In 2015, we expanded to Central Florida at the request of the local Commission on Homelessness.
Today, Ability Housing is a nationally recognized industry leader and one of very few nonprofits capable of developing high quality affordable rental housing. We are further recognized for our on-site support services designed to meet the needs of households who have low incomes, disabilities, or experiences with homelessness.
