Americorps Service Opportunity

Ability Housing, Inc. and Local Initiatives Support Corporation are seeking an AmeriCorps member to serve as a Property Development Coordinator. The candidate will ideally begin service on October 1, 2017 and serve though July 31, 2018.

Proposed Duties

The member will serve as Property Development Coordinator and report to the Property Development Administrator. The member will be an integral part of our Property Development Team – developing multiple properties into affordable, multi-family, rental communities for families and individuals who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness, are very low-income and/or have a disability. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Provide preliminary assessments of properties for multi-family housing in Duval, Clay, St. Johns and Nassau Counties, including:
    • Evaluate properties for potential acquisition
    • Conduct due diligence activities necessary to evaluate properties for acquisition
    • Identify potential funding sources
  • Support Property Development Team on Duval developments, including:
    • Review submittals from construction subcontractors
    • Review close-out documentation
    • Keep meeting minutes during owner-contractor meetings
    • Provide photo documentation of developments
    • Participate in site-walks and owner inspections
  • Support Property Development Team on Strategic Implementation Plan, including:
    • Develop and track implementation of metrics
    • Develop Standard Operating Procedures

Time Obligations

LISC                               122 hours (training, meetings, events)

Ability Housing         1,578 hours_

Full-Time Position    1,700 hours total (over 10 months)

 

Benefits

Living Stipend           $15,000 (approx. $8.83/hour)

Education Award      $5,775 (pays tuition or existing, eligible student loans)

Healthcare                 AmeriCorps member only (dependents not eligible)

Childcare                   Subsidy for dependents under age 13
