Local region uses dedicated funding, more to make up for lack of state affordable housing funds

“Local governments are prepping their future strategies on how they will address affordable housing needs as the coronavirus pandemic leaves more residents when it comes to housing due to job losses, cutbacks in work hours and more.

The action comes at an opportune time: The area currently has a shortage of affordable housing, as metro Orlando only has 20 affordable and available rental homes for every 100 extremely low-income renters. That makes the City Beautiful the seventh-worst metro in the nation for affordable housing, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition.”
